My fellow history buffs out there will immediately recognize the photograph above as depicting dueling shots of Jackie O and Marilyn Monroe. What may be less obvious is that this picture is of the same model channeling both cultural icons. She does a very convincing job of pulling this off. Her face and her body did not change, but what she did with them was altered and the results were starkly different. In effect, destiny gave her the tools, but her choices finished the job. Here is a real life example of this dynamic:
I had a dear friend in college who drank heavily because his father was an alcoholic and beat his mother. He had a car accident while drunk driving and died at 31.
I had a dear friend in law school who hardly ever drank because his father was an alcoholic and beat his mother. He is living his dream as a Circuit Court Judge in Jacksonville, Florida.
Identical circumstance, opposite choices.
In the end, it is about who we CHOOSE to be more than who we are DESTINED to be. We are all the sum of the choices we make. Once you understand what you are destined to be, adjust your choices according to what you want. Your life’s success depends on it.
