Listening has become the unofficial theme of the week so we are back on that horse this morning hoping to get you off to a winning start. We are ALL guilty of violating this basic rule of effective listening so we’ll hit it again and hope this time it sticks:
Listen With The Intent To Understand, Not The Intent To Reply
How often have we been in an exchange with someone who appeared to be listening to us, but responded in clear premeditation to what we have said? And how effective was that communication? Let’s NOT be that person and really listen to what someone is trying to tell us rather than trying to get in front of it and steer the conversation where we want it to go. I think you will be pleased with the quality of your communications if you follow this advice.
