Quickie & Coffee- The Devil’s NEW Workshop

We all know how important it is to focus on our goals if we want our lives to be fulfilling.  There is no shortage of information and perspectives out there on that topic.  And I am sure that surveying the materials would lead to a consensus that our grandfathers were right and that idleness is indeed the Devil’s Workshop.

But in our current technology age, we need to remix that one and account for the threat to our success that is ten times bigger, stronger and faster than idleness could ever be:

If idle hands are the Devil’s Workshop, then distractions are the Devil’s  High-Tech Manufacturing Facility.

We are constantly bombarded with information, notifications, reminders, and alerts from the screens and speakers of our phones, our computers and our televisions- 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

And I have no doubt that the vast majority of what we are bombarded with has nothing to do with the goals we have identified.  If something is demanding your attention and it is not advancing your goals or values then it is a distraction.  And those distractions can wind up costing us everything because we lose a wealth of time, energy and focus oftentimes without even realizing it.

The attractive distractions are the worst so watch out for them especially- gossip “news” irresistible “offers” and crazy computer generated images that are being passed off as “pictures” can steal hours of focus and energy and we won’t get any of that back.

So I admonish my friends to be alert to the Devil’s new game and stay focused on what you want and how to get there.

Thanks for checking in-  Do your thing today and I’ll see you tomorrow  π
